Frequently Asked Questions   Illinois Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association

How does the Association provide such substitute coverage?
The Association may either reissue the terminated coverage or may issue an alternative policy which has been approved by the Illinois Director of Insurance. If the Association reissues the terminated policy, it may set new premiums for such policies so long as such premiums are approved by the Director or a court order. If the Association provides an alternative policy, it may set new premiums for such policy so long as such premiums do not reflect any change in health of the insured since the original policy was issued or renewed.
